Every 12 years, Texas takes a look at every state agency. It's like a performance evaluation to make sure they're working for our communities.
There are three steps you should know about.
1
Staff Evaluation
After an outside, independent agency—the Sunset Advisory Commission—takes a look at the agency under review, it delivers a long report. It should come out May 2022.

Sunset Commission Hearing
The Sunset Commission has 12 members. They’re mostly state representatives and senators. They’ll hold a single hearing in Austin. Right now, it’s scheduled for Wednesday, June 22.

This is our chance to push Texas to equip and empower TCEQ for our communities. We want you to be a part of the change and express your concerns and plan to join us at events to share your experiences.
Why the sunset review matters
Have you ever reported pollution to the state?
Have you ever fought a permit?
Have you joined a group to oppose the construction of a new facility in your community?
Have you felt as though TCEQ listens more to polluters than you?
